I come to mediation from 31 years in the field of education.  25 years were in the classroom and 6 years were as an elementary guidance counselor.  I have a B.A. in Elementary Education and an M.S. in Elementary Guidance.  Mediation relevant experiences during my years as a counselor include leading support groups for children of divorcing parents, teaching parenting classes, and occasionally mediating conflicts between parents and teachers (and between students!)  This experience and my strong belief that problems solved through mutual discussions last much longer than those won through an adversarial approach led me to seek official mediation training shortly after retiring in 2006.  I also became a CASA volunteer. My training and work with CASA has given me additional experience with children from dysfunctional families and an increased familiarity with the workings of the court system. An affiliate of the Nebraska Justice Center, I have 30+ hours experience in small claims court mediation and since completing Family and SADR training, have been doing primarily Parenting Plan mediation.
