Special Court Projects
From time-to-time special projects are undertaken by both Nebraska trial courts and the Nebraska Supreme Court. These projects often stem from societal issues which the court system is in a unique position to study. Current projects of the Nebraska Judicial Branch include the “Through the Eyes of the Child Initiative” designed to study better ways to handle children who find themselves in the court system; The Court Improvement Project, for improvement of the functioning of the state court system in responding to cases involving children who have been abused or neglected; the Minority Justice Committee with the purpose of creating equal court access to those in the minority community; the Supreme Court Pro Se Committee which develops ways of assisting citizens who wish to represent themselves in court; and National Adoption Day Celebrations designed to raise community awareness of the need for permanent families for foster children.
