The Lancaster County Court is accepting applications for a Judicial Assistant. This position is advanced and highly responsible judicial and/or administrative support for county judges and the judicial administrator. This advanced clerical work involves courtroom work including the monitoring of the digital record and entering case information on a computer.  Assignments are carried out in accordance with standardized procedures and general instructions that require following specific methods and formats. Other work includes scheduling cases, meetings, and other appointments; answering phones, screening and referring callers; preparing correspondence and other material as required including notices for various court activity and maintaining various records. Qualifications include: Education or experience sufficient to enable the individual to perform the duties and meet the knowledge, skills and abilities required including knowledge and understanding of recording equipment, legal terminology, clerical practices and courtroom procedures; ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures. Other requirements include knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation necessary to identify errors to correct and ensure an accurate copy; skill in typing and computer entry; some experience in WordPerfect and/or Word (word processing software); and successful completion of JUSTICE (the statewide court computer system) training on the job. The ability to speak Spanish is desired but not required.
