This is an AmeriCorps grant-funded position.  Will work to reduce recidivism through improving education and employment opportunities for probationers; perform a variety of duties ranging from assisting adult and juvenile probationers in obtaining employment and education, facilitating skill based educational groups, linking probationers with jobs, educational/training opportunities, and the development of community contacts and resources for jobs and training; network with local colleges, school, and employers in order to explore employment and educational opportunities for probationers; and track probationer achievement throughout and after program completion.   AmeriCorps members will be required to work a minimum of 25 hours per week for the length of their service year (September 1, 2012 or start date, through August 31, 2013) and completion of a minimum of 675 service hours. 

Must have completed 63 hours of college course work from an accredited college in social sciences, criminal justice, or related fields, which can be substituted with related work experience.  Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, criminal justice, or related fields preferred.  

The ability to speak Spanish is desired but not required. 

Individuals selected will not be considered state employees and will not receive benefits as do other state employees.  The employees are enrolled AmeriCorps members and receive a $2,114.00 education award after completion of a minimum of 675 hours, earn 4 hours of personal leave per month, and paid holidays during their service year.
