How do I become licensed and/or certified?
“I have heard mediators refer to themselves as Licensed or Certified Parenting Act mediators, how do I become licensed and/or certified?”
Answer: The Office of Dispute Resolution Approves Parenting Act mediators. The Office does not issue Licensure or Certification for Parenting Act mediators. Although there are local and national mediation programs that may provide such qualification, mediators under the Parenting Act are only acknowledged as approved by the Office of Dispute Resolution.
If you are interested in determining whether a mediator has been approved by the Office of Dispute Resolution to mediate Parenting Act cases, you may want to review the current list.
If you are interested in becoming an approved Parenting Act Mediator, please review the Policy for Approval or seek out the online application process.
