Seven Submit their Names for Court of Appeals Judge in the First Judicial District

LINCOLN – Riko E. Bishop, Roger J. Heideman, Robert W. Hotz, Amie C. Martinez, Sally A. Rasmussen, James D. Smith, all of Lincoln, and Shaylene M. Smith, Crete, have submitted applications for appointment as Court of Appeals Judge in the First Judicial District, consisting of Lancaster and Seward Counties. The vacancy is due to the resignation of Judge Richard D. Sievers.

The public hearing of the Judicial Nominating Commission will be held in the Supreme Court Courtroom, located on the second floor of the Nebraska State Capitol, 1445 K Street, in Lincoln, Nebraska, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2013.  The Commission will review all applicants for the office at that time.  The public is welcome to attend the hearing and present information concerning candidates for the judicial opening.
