Position Title:              District Court Staff Attorney for Lancaster County District Court

Salary:                          $61,332.96 - $78,033.28 / Year

Overview of                 The staff attorney performs research and writing for the eight District Court Judges of Lancaster County. Duties include analyzing and researching cases in the preparation of memoranda, reports, briefs,               Position:                      letters, legal opinions, and similar documents. Assistance is provided in reviewing final opinions for accuracy, citation format, grammar, and punctuation. Assistance with supervision and training of staff                                                      attorney externs or interns as needed. Daily communication with judges, other chamber staff, and Clerk’s Office employees concerning legal and court-related issues.

Qualifications:             (1)      Membership in the Nebraska State Bar Association with eligibility to practice law in the State of Nebraska or ability to obtain in six months;

                                              (2)      Excellent research, writing, proofreading, and communication skills;

                                              (3)      High standard of academic excellence and experience in legal research is preferred;

                                              (4)      Experience on a law review or law journal is preferred; and

                                              (5)      Prior judicial clerking experience or relevant experience is preferred.
