Four Submit their Names for District Court Judge in the Fifth Judicial District

LINCOLN – Theodore P. Arndt, Darin J. Knepper, Timothy P. Matas, all of Columbus; and Jason M. Bergevin, Lincoln, have submitted applications for appointment as District Court Judge in the 5th Judicial District consisting of Boone, Butler, Colfax, Hamilton, Merrick, Nance, Platte, Polk, Saunders, Seward, and York counties. The primary place of office for the judicial vacancy is Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska. The vacancy is due to the retirement of Judge Robert R. Steinke.

The public hearing of the Judicial Nominating Commission will be held in the District Court Courtroom located on the 2nd Floor of the Platte County Courthouse, 2610 14th Street, in Columbus, Nebraska, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2022.  All Commission members and applicants may be physically present or may participate in the hearing via WebEx. The Commission will interview all applicants for the office at that time. The public is welcome to attend the hearing and present information concerning candidates for the judicial opening.
