Chief Justice Mike Heavican will give his 12th annual State of the Judiciary address to the Legislature at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 17, 2019, in the Legislative Chamber.

Nebraska Educational Television will air the speech on NET2 as part of its regular legislative coverage which can be viewed online at: www.netnebraska.org/publicmedia/capitol.html (link will appear as: Unicameral: Legislative Session).

The Chief Justice gives the State of the Judiciary address at the invitation of the Speaker of the Legislature, Senator Jim Scheer. Since 2008 this address has been the judiciary’s opportunity to highlight Judicial Branch priorities for the upcoming year and provide relevant information directly to lawmakers. Heavican will give an overview of the activities of the judicial branch of government including projects involving the state’s 146 judges and over 1,400 non-judicial employees in courthouses and probation offices across the state.

Before the end of this month, the State of the Judiciary will be available through the Nebraska Judicial Branch Website publication archive.
