New Date for Public Hearing of Judicial Nominating Commission, County Court, First Judicial District


FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: AMENDED NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING


LINCOLN – Amanda D. Fanning (Spracklen-Hogan), Jeffrey A. Gaertig, Lee M. Timan, all of Beatrice; and Richard R. Smith, Cook, have submitted applications for appointment as County Court Judge in the 1st Judicial District consisting of Gage, Jefferson, Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee, Richardson, Saline, and Thayer counties. The primary place of office for the judicial vacancy is Beatrice, Gage County, Nebraska. The vacancy is due to the retirement of Judge Steven B. Timm.

The public hearing of the Judicial Nominating Commission will be held via WebEx at the Gage County Courthouse, County Courtroom, Third Floor, 612 Grant Street, Beatrice, Nebraska, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. The Commission will review all applicants for the office at that time. 

The Chair of the Commission will be present at the Gage County Courthouse, and Commission members and applicants will participate in this hearing via WebEx. The public hearing is expected to be available for viewing on NET at the following link on the date of the hearing: Nebraska Educational Television's Live & On Demand: State Government website.

Any member of the public wishing to present testimony for the Commission’s consideration may do so one of two ways:

  1. Written testimony provided in advance of the hearing: Those wishing to present written testimony or other pertinent information may do so by mailing the information to the Commission Chair no later than February 10, 2021, at the following address: Judicial Nominating Commission for County Court 1st Judicial District, PO Box 98910, Lincoln, NE 68509 or email it to dawn.mussmann@nebraska.gov.
     
  2. Oral testimony offered during the hearing: Those wishing to present oral testimony may do so by attending the public hearing in the county courtroom of the Gage County Courthouse in Beatrice, Nebraska. All persons attending should be prepared for staggered admittance and restricted seating in order to maintain appropriate social distancing.
