Chief Justice Mike Heavican presented his 7th annual State of the Judiciary address to the Legislature on Friday, January 17, 2014, in the Legislative Chamber.
The text of the Chief's speech and video of the State of the Judiciary address are available on the Nebraska Judicial Branch website.
The State of the Judiciary address is given by the Chief Justice at the invitation of the Speaker of the Legislature, Senator Greg Adams. Since 2008 this address has become the judiciary’s opportunity to highlight Judicial Branch priorities for the upcoming year and provide relevant information directly to lawmakers. Heavican will provide an overview of the activities of the judicial branch of government including projects involving the state’s 145 judges and over 1,100 non-judicial employees in courthouses and probation offices across the state.
