The State Law Library of the Nebraska Supreme Court is accepting applications for a Library Technician. This is varied clerical work as an assistant to a professional librarian and other work for the Administrative Office of the Courts. This position is responsible for the technical service for the library including cataloging all new material, checking in and updating all new material by loose-leaf filing or by pocket parts, and preparing materials for binding. Other duties involve preparing all deposits for the library and the Supreme Court Publications Office, maintaining all files for the Supreme Court publications, preparing materials for free distributions, processing all orders for statutes keeping records of payments. There are also responsibilities to maintain an inventory of the Supreme Court’s fixed assets and process surplus property.
Qualifications include graduation from high school with some administrative or general secretarial and/or library experience; abilities to be flexible and well organized, to set priorities and work efficiently and independently, to meet deadlines, to communicate with a variety of individuals, and to maintain records and files. Technical skills required for this position include data management, editing and writing skills and considerable experience with word processing, email programs and general accounting knowledge. Experience in copycat cataloging is preferred. The beginning salary for this position is an annual rate of $31,027 based on skill and experience. The job begins March 1,2014.
