Judge Ross Stoffer has been named County Court Presiding Judge of the 7th Judicial District (Antelope, Cuming, Knox, Madison, Pierce, Stanton, and Wayne counties) for 2013. The Nebraska Supreme Court approved the nomination of Judge Stoffer, whose name was submitted by his fellow county court judges for the leadership position.
Judge Stoffer currently serves on the county court/juvenile bench, as well as the Northeast Nebraska Juvenile Drug Court in Madison County. He is an active member of the Nebraska County Judges Association, a member of the Minority Justice Committee, and is a lead judge for the 7th Judicial District team of the “Through the Eyes of the Child” initiative. He joined the court bench in 2006 after many years in private law practice in Norfolk.
As presiding judge, Judge Stoffer has primary responsibility for overseeing the delivery of county court services within his judicial district. He will also serve as the liaison to agencies of local and state government for the courts of the district and to the Nebraska State Bar Association and the press.
Presiding judges also bear responsibility for overseeing personnel matters for the district and provide county courts in the area with direction in matters of local district policy.
