Lonnie Folchert was appointed Chief Probation Officer in North Platte in January, 2009. He began his employment as a juvenile intensive supervision officer (ISP) in Ogallala in December, 1991. Lonnie was appointed ISP Coordinator in May, 1994.
Folchert has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a minor in psychology from Chadron State College. He also completed the Management Development Certification program from the University of Nebraska/Lincoln.
In 2002, Folchert was awarded Probation’s Bob Keller Supervisor of the Year Award.
He is currently chairperson for Probation’s Community and Probation-Based Programs and Services Committee, serves on the WEC Management Committee with Probation and Corrections and previously served on Probation’s Training Committee. Folchert served as an officer safety trainer for nine years. He completed the U.S. Department of Justice National Institute of Corrections Executive Orientation Program and has completed the University of Nebraska/Lincoln’s Management Development Certification.
