If for some reason you cannot attend the hearing, you must ask the court for a continuance.  The steps for filing for a continuance are noted below. 

1. Complete the form:  Motion for Continuance and Notice of Hearing (DC 1:2). Instructions for this form are available.
2. Complete the form:  Order for Continuance (DC 1:2.2). Instructions for this form are available. 
3. Ask the Clerk of the District Court to file the Motion for Continuance and Notice of Hearing (DC 1:2)form.
4. Give the Clerk of the District Court the completed Order for Continuance (DC 1:2.2).
5. If the judge continues the hearing, you will receive a copy of the judge’s signed order by email or United States Postal Mail.
