The Counsel for Discipline is currently accepting applications for a full time Administrative Assistant for the Director of the Counsel for Discipline (C4D). This position is responsible for administrative support to the Counsel for Discipline and Staff Attorneys within the division.

Organize and maintain files, disseminate incoming mail/faxes, manage personnel files and administrative information with confidentiality.

Work involves providing advanced and specialized administrative support to Counsel for Discipline and Staff Attorneys, which may include providing maintaining department executive calendar; scheduling and coordinating appointments, meetings, activities, or events; attending meetings and taking notes.  Inputs data into TimeMatters (TM) for all new & pending complaints / correspondence / monthly, 6-months & annual reports / discipline histories / judicial nominations / transfers / resignations / reinstatements / bank IOLTA information; records all discipline on TM Misconduct & NSC website; notifies Nebraska State Bar Association, NSC Clerk’s Office & Attorney Services Division; also records Private Reprimands and Disability Inactive Status; answers all incoming phone calls; guides new complainants through our grievance process, sometimes refers them to NSBA for their Lawyer Referral Service, Volunteer Lawyers Project or Client Assistance Fund; refers judicial complaint calls to AOCP/JQC; routes outside Attorneys to our Counsel for Discipline Attorneys, or explains to them how to request their discipline history. Composes, edits, and reviews a variety of standard or specialized correspondence, reports, documents, applications, forms, violations, memos, and other applicable materials.  Responds to requests for information, in person, via e-mail, and over the phone; provides and explains department policies, procedures and regulations. Organizes and maintains files, such as creating and maintaining confidential department/employee files; files documents alphabetically, numerically, or by other prescribed methods and performing other related functions regarding C4D as the position requires.

HIRING RATE (during probationary period):  $46,874.30 Annually

MINIMUM PERMANENT RATE (after probationary period): $48,046.20 Annually

WORK SCHEDULE:  Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., on-site, limited local travel required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Associate degree in related field; and 2 years of advanced administrative support experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a law or business office sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience planning and hosting events. College degree is preferred. Equivalent education or experience will be considered.  Knowledge of the judicial branch of government, the organizational structure of the Nebraska Probation/Court System.  The ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required. All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

  • Processes and responds to requests for information from supervisors, employees, and other stakeholders.
