Amended Notice of Judicial Resources Commission Public Hearing - Procedure for Offering Testimony

 

AMENDED NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

To clarify procedure for offering testimony at the public hearing

The Judicial Resources Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, pursuant to Neb. Rev. Stat. § 24-1204 to determine whether, based on the judicial workload statistics, judicial vacancies exist in the following locations:

  1. Office of district court of the 12th Judicial District, due to the retirement of Judge Randall Lippstreu, effective February 28, 2017, and if so to make a recommendation to the Supreme Court as to the primary place of office of said vacancy.
     
  2. Office of county court of the 8th Judicial District, due to the retirement of Judge Alan Brodbeck, effective March 31, 2017, and if so to make a recommendation to the Supreme Court as to the primary place of office of said vacancy.
     
  3. Office of county court of the 2nd Judicial District, due to the appointment of Judge Stefanie Martinez to the district court bench, effective April 18, 2017, and if so to make a recommendation to the Supreme Court as to the primary place of office of said vacancy.

The public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., central time, and will be held in the State Capitol Building, Room 1510, Lincoln, Nebraska. Members of the Nebraska Judicial Resources Commission will be able to participate in the hearing via video conferencing from the following sites: (1) Omaha West Vocational Rehabilitation Office, 12011 Q Street, Omaha, Nebraska; (2) North Platte Vocational Rehabilitation Office, 200 S. Silber, Building 2, North Platte, Nebraska; and (3) Grand Island Vocational Rehabilitation Office, 203 E. Stolley Park Road, Suite B, Grand Island, Nebraska.

The videoconferencing sites will not be used to receive public testimony. Any member of the public wishing to present oral testimony before the commission may do so by attending the public hearing in Room 1510 of the State Capitol, Lincoln, Nebraska. Any member of the public wishing to present written testimony or other pertinent information to the commission may do so by mailing it to the Chairperson no later than June 22, 2017 at the following address: State Capitol Building, Room 2219, Lincoln, NE 68509, or e-mailing it to: Dawn.Mussmann@nebraska.gov

Following the hearing, the Commission will make a recommendation to the Legislature of its determination.
