Merrick County Court Clerk Magistrate Beth Pullen, Central City, submitted her notice of retirement effective December 31, 2020. Pullen has over 40 years of service with the Judicial Branch.

Pullen began her career in Merrick County in October of 1978, was promoted to Assistant Clerk in 1986, and Clerk Magistrate on November 1, 1994.

In 2016 Pullen was named ‘Employee of the Year’ through the Administrative Office of the Courts and Probation for her forward-thinking and effective use of technology in serving as a pilot location the JUSTICE computer system when it was initially released. Subsequently, Pullen traveled to several other counties to provide direction and support as JUSTICE was implemented statewide. 

Pullen also pioneered a working model for combining the duties of clerk magistrate and clerk of the district court to better serve the public. Her initial work in office merging continues today in Osceola, Oshkosh, Chappell, and Stockville.

Immediately prior to Pullen's retirement, a Clerk Magistrate or Interim Clerk Magistrate will be designated for the court.
