Chief Justice Announces Nebraska Probation Week with Proclamation

Nebraska Chief Justice Michael G. Heavican will hold a proclamation signing ceremony announcing Nebraska Probation Week on behalf of the State Judicial Branch on Friday, July 17, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. The ceremony will be streamed live from the State Capitol, out of respect for social distancing.

Recognizing that July 19-25, 2020, is nationally identified as Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week, Chief Justice Heavican will issue the proclamation announcing the recognition of Nebraska’s probation system urging all citizens – particularly those within the legal community – to take note of the occasion.

Probation’s services, which operate through the Nebraska Judicial Branch, are an essential part of the state court and criminal justice systems. Probation officers, staff, and administration exemplify community corrections at its core, accomplishing constructive change and community safety through rehabilitation, community collaboration, and partnerships with those who provide services.

Nebraska Educational Television will air the speech on NET2 as part of its regular legislative coverage, which can be viewed online: http://netnebraska.org/basic-page/television/live-demand(link will appear as Judiciary: Chief Justice Probation Proclamation Signing Ceremony).
