Christine Thalken Chosen to Lead County Court in Wahoo
Christine Thalken, who previously worked as the assistant courtroom clerk of Saunders County, has been selected to serve as Saunders County court Clerk Magistrate in Wahoo. Her official work as Clerk Magistrate begins July 1, 2025.
“Christine’s sharp eye for detail and her constant willingness to step in wherever needed will no doubt be key strengths as she takes on her new role as Clerk Magistrate in Saunders County,” according to Trial Court Services Director Sara Fowler.
County court clerk magistrates work under the general direction of the presiding county judge supervising, assigning, and directing the work of all staff within the county court. The position carries a high level of responsibility for the people, paperwork, finances, and records of the court. Thalken will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency of the court’s administrative functions and for investigating and evaluating potential procedural changes.
Thalken will work in the 5th Judicial District with fellow clerk magistrates Carly Noack of Aurora, Jodie Roberts of Osceola, Ellen Faltys of Schuyler, Deanne Uhrmacher of David City, Lisa Langan of Albion, Lindsay Meister of Columbus, Maria Segura-Rodriguez of Central City, Aaron Benson of Fullerton, Kimberly Haberman of Seward, and Allison O’Neill of York. The 5th District includes Boone, Butler, Colfax, Hamilton, Merrick, Nance, Platte, Polk, Saunders, Seward, and York Counties. Judges Lynelle Homolka, Denise Kracl, Andrew Lange, C. Jo Petersen, and Stephen Twiss preside over the courts and direct the magistrates in the 5th District.
Thalken replaces former Clerk Magistrate Diane Wagner who retires June 30 after 36 years of service to the court system.
