After 11 years on the bench, William T. Wright, district court judge of the 9th Judicial District, is retiring effective September 30, 2018. He was appointed to the district court bench in Hall and Buffalo Counties in 2007.

According to Wright, “Drug Court has, by far, been the most proactive and successful program in which I have been involved, thanks largely to the efforts of an incredible staff.”  Fellow District Court Judge John Marsh observed that Wright brought a great deal of skill and empathy to the Problem-Solving Court process, “When presiding over drug court he is part guidance counselor, part disciplinarian and part cheerleader for every participant.” Additionally, Marsh noted that Judge Wright’s strong sense of organization and keen intellect made him a great asset to the bench and stated that  “Judge Wright will be truly missed.”

Judge Wright regularly supported law-related education on a local level participating in 5th grade Law Day Job Shadowing, High School Mock Trials, and Leadership Kearney.
