Nebraska District Court Judge Rick Schreiner of Beatrice, Nebraska, was invited to sit with the Nebraska Supreme Court on March 2, 2022.

Schreiner heard arguments in the case of Wilkinson Development, Inc. v. Ford & Ford Investments (S21-0496). This case arises from Appellant’s petition for specific performance of a real estate contract with Appellee.  In this appeal, the district court sustained a Motion for Summary Judgment in favor of Appellee and overruled Appellant’s Motion to Vacate the Summary Judgment.

He sat in place of Justice Jeffrey Funke, who was recused from the case. The Court session was held in the Supreme Court Courtroom of the Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln.

Seven justices make up the Nebraska Supreme Court: Chief Justice Mike Heavican and six associate justices. On occasion, a justice must recuse him or herself from a case, and a judge from a district court or the Court of Appeals is asked to sit with the Supreme Court.
