Former Police Chief Ron Murtaugh Chosen to Lead Douglas County Court
Ronald Murtaugh, Chief of Police at Ralston, has been selected to serve as Judicial Administrator for Nebraska’s largest county court in Omaha. Murtaugh will remain police chief until February 6, 2017, when he starts his new position with judicial administration at Douglas County Court. Murtaugh is a law enforcement executive with almost 30 years of law enforcement experience. While serving as Ralston’s Police Chief, his responsibilities included budgeting, strategic planning, establishment of policies and procedures, and other city-level executive assignments. He also assisted the city of Ralston with economic development programs, management of human resources, contract negotiations, and other special projects. Murtaugh served the U.S. Army from 1982 until 2008 attaining the rank of Command Sergeant Major. “Mr. Murtaugh will be an excellent addition to the Douglas County Court. He has the management and leadership experience and skills we are looking for in our court leaders,” said Corey Steel, Nebraska State Court Administrator. “He will utilize all of the expertise he has developed throughout his career when managing Douglas County’s 86 person county court.”
