Supreme Court Approves Pilot for Judicial Nominating Commission Hearing Livestream

The Nebraska Supreme Court has selected the Buffalo County Courthouse, Kearney, Nebraska, to pilot a new livestream project aimed at providing remote viewing of the Judicial Nominating Commission hearing on January 24, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. Justice William Cassel will preside over the hearing where Commission members will interview the seven applicants for the office of District Judge of the Ninth Judicial District.

The public hearing will be livestreamed at the following link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/4548520463?pwd=TXVGRzhlWVhFOXVFZkZaM2JxeWsvQT09&omn=87591061422. Chair Justice Cassel emphasized that no public participation will be permitted via the livestream, and if technical difficulties occur, the livestream may be interrupted or discontinued, but the in-person hearing in Courtroom #1 will continue uninterrupted.

The goal of the pilot is to increase awareness of Judicial Nominating Commission hearings and provide a way for Nebraskans to view and hear Commission hearings using the technology that exists in Nebraska’s courtrooms.

The project is a collaboration between the staff of the Buffalo County District Court Clerk’s Office, and the IT departments of Buffalo County and the Nebraska Judicial Branch.
