The Nebraska Court Improvement Project (CIP) has opened registration for the 2019 Children’s Summit to all. This year’s Summit focuses on “Progress through Prevention.” CIP welcomes keynote speakers Dr. Tammi Fleming, Senior Associate at Annie E. Casey Foundation, Judge Steven Teske, Chief Judge, Juvenile Court of Clayton County, Georgia, and Jerry Milner, Associate Commissioner at the Children’s Bureau, Acting Commissioner for Family and Youth Services Bureau, and the Acting Commissioner for the Administration on Children, Youth and Families. In addition to these plenary sessions, the Summit will provide attendees the opportunity to choose from 60 breakout sessions aligned in 10 tracks of interest. The tracks of interest are Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice, Attorney/Legal, Native Youth and Families, Special Populations, Courts, Behavioral Health, Prevention, Schools/Education, and Collaboration. These breakout sessions will be presented by nearly 90 experts from fields and agencies concerned with court-involved children and youth.

The 2019 Children’s Summit will be held in Kearney, Nebraska, at the Younes Conference Center on September 11-12. Recovery efforts are well underway following the recent flooding in Kearney. Based on recent news reports, the Younes Conference Center and surrounding hotels are expected to be open for business in four to six weeks. CIP will monitor progress and inform registrants if there are any changes to dates or location as soon as they may occur.
