Judge Ross Stoffer administered the ceremonial oath of office for Clerk Magistrate Leah Buhrman on June 4, 2021. Judges, colleagues, and attorneys gathered to celebrate Buhrman’s assumption of the position in the 7th Judicial District, Madison County Court. Buhrman began her role as clerk magistrate in November 2020, but the ceremony and reception were delayed due to directed health measures. 

“Leah joined the judicial branch in 2018 and learned many of the functions and responsibilities of the court before assuming her position as clerk magistrate.” Sheryl Connolly, Trial Court Services Director for County Courts, shared. “That experience with her enthusiasm and energy for serving the court and court users have been tremendously helpful in this transition.”     

Buhrman filled the vacancy of retiring County Clerk Magistrate Lori Bohn, who served Madison County for 41 years. Buhrman assumes the responsibility of managing the county court under the direction of the presiding judge. Oversight of court staff, finances, and recordkeeping are among her duties.
