Chief Probation Officer Jodi York to Retire October 2
Chief Probation Officer Jodi York announced her retirement effective October 2, 2020, after over 25 years of service to the Judicial Branch.
In a letter announcing her departure, York noted, “I literally grew up in this system and, for 25 years, I have enjoyed my career. We have changed so much over the years, and I am proud to have been a part of it.”
York began working as a probation officer in Papillion in 1985 and has remained in the same district since that time. She provided investigations to the court and supervised adult probationers before being appointed as the Chief Deputy Probation Officer in 2001. In February 2006, she was named Chief Probation Officer of District #2 Probation.
York is a state-certified trainer and has trained numerous probation officers throughout her career. She has also served as a contract trainer for the substance abuse counselor course “Training for Addiction Professionals.”
York has been on various boards and committees during her time with probation. She is an inaugural member of the Domestic Violence Coordinated Response Team in Sarpy County (now CASDA) and on the Steering Committee for the Sarpy County Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative. She also participates in the Crossover Youth Initiative team in Sarpy County, the Advisory Board for Court Appointed Special Advocates, the Board for the Sarpy County Education Program, and is the chair of the Nebraska State Probation Staff Development Committee.
Efforts to hire a new Chief Probation Officer for District 2 are underway.
