Continuing Virtual Education in the Office of Public Guardian
The Office of Public Guardian recently participated in a virtual Community of Practice through the Nebraska Center on Reflective Practice. The OPG and its staff continues to greatly benefit from participating in Reflective Practice. The virtual Community of Practice included open discussion on the highlights and challenges of guardianship and/or conservatorship work, through the lens of facilitating interactions that are attuned and productive. Breakout sessions provided staff with the opportunity to dig in further, and to connect with each other no matter where people are located across the state.
The OPG will also soon participate in the National Guardianship Association’s Colloquium on Guardianship: Details of Decision-Making. This year’s colloquium will focus on decision-making, specifically medical decisions. The two-day virtual conference will provide OPG staff the opportunity to hear from legal, medical, and social work experts to learn and grow in skillsets unique to their work as surrogate decision-makers.
