Court Reporting Personnel Manual Now Available
A new manual for court reporting personnel is now available. The manual is a tool that outlines the role and responsibilities of personnel operating the digital recording systems and courtroom procedures related to exhibits. It also provides instructions on operating the digital recorder, providing records (for transcripts, bills of exceptions and the public), and producing journal entries and orders. Appendices with court vocabulary, Office of Dispute Resolution glossary, and probation acronyms are also included.
Skilled court reporting personnel are critical to the fair administration of justice and accountability to the public. Court Services and Judicial Branch Education designed the manual with the assistance of Transcription Specialist Linda Mitchell with this purpose in mind. Education for court reporting personnel based upon the manual will be developed in 2020.
