Foster Parenting Video Premieres in Seward During Chief’s Summer Tour

The premiere of an inspiring new foster parenting video took center stage at the Seward judicial center during the last stop on day 3 of the Chief Justice’s Summer Tour on August 14. Judges Lynelle Homolka and C. Jo Petersen introduced "Fostering Care: How You Can Help," a moving video designed to encourage more families to consider foster parenting.

The video, which highlights the critical role foster parents play in transforming young lives, was complemented by a detailed brochure created by Nebraska Court Improvement Project Team 5.1, led by the two judges. Both resources are part of a larger effort to raise awareness and spark action across the state.

This video presentation was well-received with hoped of inspiring community members to consider how they can make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children.

Additional programming included a discussion of the court’s ‘my stuff bag for children removed from their home, the RISE program utilizing AmeriCorps funding to support youth on probation, and a discussion the importance of follow-up programming with problem-solving court mentor and alumni group.
