The first snow storm of the season did not deter 22 aspiring court interpreters from actively participating in Interpreter Orientation, October 13-14, at Creighton University Law School in Omaha.   These intrepid future court interpreters represent 10 different communities in the state and collectively speak nine different languages from Arabic to Thai.  The intensive two-day introduction to court interpreting was taught by federally certified Spanish court interpreters Jeck-Jenard Navarrete and Laura Garcia-Hein, with Nebraska State Court Interpreter Coordinators Adrian Hinojosa (Omaha) and Irma Watt (Grand Island) on hand to offer tips and background information.

The next step toward interpreter certification is the Interpreter Written Exam, which will be offered

• November 16, Omaha from 1:00 - 3:15 p.m.
• November 20, Lincoln from 1:00 - 3:15 p.m.
• November 30, Grand Island from 9:00 - 11:15 a.m.
