On Wednesday, March 6th, Certified Spanish interpreter Vladimir Bazan had the opportunity to interpret at the Capitol in front of the Supreme Court. This is an experience that most interpreters will not have during their careers. The Language Access Program is asked to provide interpreters to appear in front of the Supreme Court about once every 5-10 years. Bazan says about this unique experience, “Interpreting in front of the Nebraska Supreme Court was a great opportunity to show the highest Court in the State the important and unique service that interpreters provide. It was a challenging experience because the acoustics and setup in the courtroom are not necessarily interpreter-friendly, but it was my first time interpreting there, and I would gladly do it again.”
