Juvenile Justice System Statistical Annual Report Released
The Nebraska Juvenile Justice System 2017 Statistical Annual Report, designed to meet the requirements of Nebraska Revised Statute § 24-1007, can be found on the Judicial Branch Website and the Unicameral Legislature Website.
This report is compiled by the Administrative Office of the Courts and Probation and contains statistics on Juvenile Justice (status offense and juvenile delinquency) cases and on juveniles prosecuted in the adult court system.
A status offense is an act that is prohibited because of the juvenile status of the person, but that is not punishable if committed by an adult. Juvenile delinquency cases involve a violation of a law applicable regardless of juvenile or adult status. This report provides statistical information on juveniles in the justice system.
The report shows caseload statistics by case type, geography and demographics. Each table reports statistics on cases for youth ages 17 and under at the time of the offense. The Juvenile Probation Activity tables are provided from the Administrative Office of Probation’s case management system and report activity for juveniles receiving probation services in the year.
