A swearing-in ceremony for Maria (Mary) Segura-Rodriguez as Clerk Magistrate of the Merrick County Court was held May 5, 2021, in the Merrick County Courthouse in Central City, Nebraska. Judge Stephen Twiss officiated. State Court Administrator Corey Steel gave opening remarks noting that the position of clerk magistrate is one of leadership and great importance to the community.

She began her duties on February 16, 2021,  replacing former Clerk Magistrate Beth Pullen. The recognition of Rodriguez’s oath was delayed due to directed health measure restrictions.
