A Problem-Solving Court graduation was held for Jamon Condreay and Mark Pavlik at the Merrick County Courthouse on January 9, 2023.  In attendance were Judge Daugherty who presides over Hamilton-Merrick problem-solving court, county board members, District 5 probation staff, friends, and family.

Problem-Solving Coordinator Morgan Campbell stated, “From the moment they started their journey, Jamon and Mark excelled and pushed forward with their head held high. They were determined to successfully complete the program and move forward with recovery in their lives.” Problem-Solving Court graduation is a time when past problem-solving court clients and current problem-solving court clients can share their successes and the tribulations that come along with being involved in the program.  Graduation is a time to celebrate Jamon and Mark’s accomplishments.

Problem-Solving Courts are an alternate route through the criminal justice system for nonviolent drug-related offenders, which utilizes a specialized team process that functions within the existing court structure. The courts are designed to achieve a reduction in recidivism and substance use among individuals with substance use disorders. The court’s goal is to protect public safety and increase the participant’s likelihood of successful rehabilitation by utilizing validated risk and need assessments, early and individualized behavioral health treatment, frequent and random chemical testing, incentives, sanctions, and other rehabilitative and ancillary services.
