Nebraska Bench Media Committee to Relaunch Brown Bag Media Court Visit Program

The Nebraska Bench Media Committee has announced the relaunch of its Brown Bag Media Court Visit program, set to begin in Sidney, Nebraska, April 2024. Originating in 2017, the program offers local journalists an immersive experience within the court and probation systems, fostering a deeper understanding of trial court operations (see First Judicial District Hosts Bench-Media Brown Bag Lunch in Beatrice).

Designed to strengthen relationships between the media and the courts, the program facilitates face-to-face meetings with Media Coordinators, judges, and staff. Journalists gain insights into the challenges faced by the justice system, contributing to accurate reporting for the public.

Courts in Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, and North Platte will be among the first to receive program packet outlines, emphasizing the statewide reach of this initiative. The relaunch aims to provide a collaborative platform for journalists and court officials, promoting transparency and accurate reporting on legal matters. The Nebraska Bench Media Committee encourages local journalists to participate, contributing to a more informed public discourse on the workings of the justice system.
