Nebraska Supreme Court Justices will hold oral arguments on the South Sioux City High School campus on November 1, 2019, as part of the Nebraska Supreme Court’s outreach and education programming. (This is a high school program but will be held in the Middle School auditorium.)

Two arguments will be heard on November 1, beginning with an educational program at 10:00 a.m. Court arguments will be followed by an open question and answer session with students. Cases are selected to demonstrate the variety of legal arguments that regularly come into the court system.

This visit marks the first time that the Supreme Court will hear arguments in South Sioux City.

County Court Judge Kurt Rager, a graduate of South Sioux High School, will join the educational portion of the program to provide background information to students on the court system. Several regional high schools and local dignitaries will be in attendance.

Traveling appellate court arguments are part of an ongoing effort of the Nebraska Supreme Court and the legal community to raise awareness of the court processes and the importance of civics in society. All argument sessions, whether held in the Supreme Court courtroom or outside of the State Capitol, are open to the public.
