New Education for Court Reporting Personnel Now Available
New education covering nine critical responsibilities of courtroom clerks is now available online through the Judicial Branch Education (JBE) website.
JBE developed the materials with Transcription Specialist Linda Mitchell and Trial Court Services Director for County Courts Sheryl Connolly. The education includes best practices from the American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers (AAERT) and additional requirements under Nebraska Statutes and Nebraska Supreme Court Rules.
“This education will be tremendously beneficial to new personnel taking on responsibilities in the courtroom and will support and reinforce best practices for more experienced staff,” Sheryl Connolly shared. “We are very excited to be able to offer these modules, and we welcome input from judges and court reporting personnel on anything that we can do to improve the record, support our judges, and increase the competence and confidence of personnel doing this critical work.”
Completing the Court Reporting Personnel Modules is mandatory for all new employees in the courtroom, but all personnel providing support for judges in the courtroom should complete this education.
