New Probation Officer Swearing In
Seventy-nine Nebraska State Probation officers were sworn in by Supreme Court Chief Justice Michael Heavican on October 5, 2023, in the State Capitol Rotunda in front of distinguished guests, family, and friends. This year’s class was the largest class of new officers we’ve had. In addressing the new officers Chief Justice Heavican noted “You have the power to change the lives of folks who are on probation, their families, their children and the communities they are part of.”
Deb Minardi, Probation Administrator, addressed the new officers, their families, and fellow Probation employees noting “It has been said that for those of us who have chosen this path of probation it is in our soul. As Probation Officers, you will inspire hope, you will empower individuals and you will strengthen your community. On any given day in Nebraska, there are over 14,000 adults and over 2,400 juveniles who are under probation supervision. Each success can be defined as one less crime, one less victim, one step closer to a safer community.”
The event was once again live streamed to family and friends who were unable to attend in person. Last year over 423 individuals watched the event from across the country.
