Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Train the Trainer Session for Judicial Branch Staff
Ten probation and court trainers attended a nonviolent crisis intervention training session in Lincoln the week of December 7, 2020. This four-day crisis intervention program focuses on verbal de-escalation strategies. It is designed for primary caregivers, educators, human service professionals, probation, and police officers who directly intervene in crises. The course teaches trainers to engage in successful de-escalation techniques.
Over the next two years, all probation staff will be trained on verbal de-escalation at regional sessions across the state. The curriculum will also be incorporated into new officer safety training, new drug tech training, and new probation support staff training starting in 2021.
Offerings of this much-requested training for court office staff will also be made available soon. Dates will be announced at a later time.
A virtual format will allow staff to attend verbal de-escalation training without having to travel to Lincoln or close courts.
