On March 18, 2022, Northeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court celebrated the graduation of Erin Johnson at the Madison County Courthouse. Honorable James G. Kube presided over the ceremony. 

Following the dismissal of the charge and subsequent graduation in court, Johnson offered words of encouragement to other participants in the program. The ceremony marks the completion of an intensive program of comprehensive behavioral health treatment, community supervision, and accountability.

Problem-solving courts are an alternate route through the criminal justice system for nonviolent drug-related offenders, utilizing a specialized team functioning within the existing court structure. Problem-solving courts are designed to reduce recidivism and substance use among individuals with substance use disorders. In addition, the courts aim to protect public safety and increase the participant's likelihood of successful rehabilitation by utilizing validated risk and need assessments, early and individualized behavioral health treatment, frequent and random chemical testing, incentives, sanctions, and other rehabilitative ancillary services.
