The OPG has successfully transitioned to remote operations and continues to advocate tirelessly for their wards and vulnerable adults in Nebraska in general. All private guardian and conservator education programming has been implemented remotely. The OPG is now conducting classes both online and over the phone. Additionally, the OPG is developing Spanish language education programs, launching their first social media campaigns, and working to develop multiple new resources to assist private guardians and conservators across the state. Spanish language education development consisted of joint efforts between the OPG, Judicial Branch Education and Language access. New Spanish programming is expected to roll out in June. The OPG’s new Facebook page will include regular posts about resources for private guardians and conservators and informational stories about OPG operations and observations. Additionally, amidst the public health crisis the OPG has also advocated for revising COVID-19 testing protocols to ensure that, in any nursing home or assisted living facility where a resident or staff member tests positive for COVID 19, all staff and residents are tested and monitored in order to contain COVID 19 outbreaks.
