The Administrative Office of the Courts and Probation has partnered with David Prescott, a highly recognized clinician, speaker, and trainer focusing on understanding, assessing, and treating adult sex offenders and juveniles who sexually harm (JSH).  Prescott will be conducting a statewide assessment of juvenile probation’s approach to supervising and providing treatment services for JSH. This assessment involves interviews of probation staff, service providers, and potentially other stakeholders. Prescott will be reviewing policies as well as conducting targeted case reviews. A key component of this assessment will include an on-site visit to Nebraska during the week of July 19, 2021, to tour juvenile justice treatment placements, and meet with service providers and probation staff.

Following the review, Prescott will present his findings, including recommendations moving forward. One of these recommendations will involve the feasibility of a statewide multi-disciplinary team that would bring local Nebraska experts together to focus on determining the best treatment and supervision plans for individual youth and be a specialized resource on the topic of JSH for the juvenile justice system.

David Prescott bio: A mental health practitioner of 36 years, Prescott is the Editor of Safer Society Press. He is the author and editor of 20 books in the area of improving services to at-risk clients. He is best known for his work in understanding, assessing, and treating sexual violence and trauma. Prescott is the recipient of the 2014 Distinguished Contribution award from the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers and the 2018 recipient of the National Adolescent perpetration Network’s C. Henry Kempe Lifetime Achievement award. Prescott currently trains and lectures around the world.
