The Office of Public Guardian is pleased to announce Associate Public Guardian, Lisa Ludden, has been selected to serve as a member on the Board of Trustees for the Center for Guardianship Certification. She will begin her service in January 2021. 

Earlier this year, Lisa successfully earned her National Certified Guardian certification, from the Center for Guardianship Certification. She has served as an Associate Public Guardian in the Norfolk, OPG Northeast Service Area since April of 2017. 

The Center for Guardianship Certification’s mission is to enhance the quality of guardianship services by providing examination and certification of guardians and fiduciaries. A person with the CGC credential has acquired a foundation of necessary knowledge, demonstrated proficiency in core competencies, continued to enhance skills and understanding, agreed to abide by a code of ethical conduct, and is subject to disciplinary proceedings. To qualify for certification, an applicant must have one year of guardianship experience, have excellent references exhibit the highest degree of ethics, and have earned a degree in the field related to guardianship, or completion of a course curriculum related to guardianship approved by CGC, and pass the National Certification Examination.

In accordance with the Nebraska Public Guardianship Act, the Office of Public Guardian, educates and certifies all newly appointed family and private guardians in Nebraska.  The curriculum developed by the OPG includes specific legal responsibilities for guardians/conservators under Nebraska law, and the model principles and ethics of the National Guardianship Associate and select competencies required by the Center for Guardianship Certification. This helps ensure vulnerable adults under guardianship are protected and served by informed, educated guardians.
