In November, Sarpy County is launching a new Veterans Treatment Court to aid military veterans struggling with mental health or substance use disorders who have encountered legal troubles.

District Court Judge Nathan Cox will preside over the court which provides specialized support for veterans in the large military community. The court team is reviewing applications, and planning to start with 10 participants when the court officially opens. This addition marks Nebraska’s fourth Veterans Treatment problem-solving court, along with Douglas and Lancaster counties and the Central Nebraska court which serves multiple counties.
