Kathleen Hein, Courtroom Clerk with the Platte County Court, was presented the 2018 Evelyn E. Labode Service to Youth Award during the recent Nebraska Juvenile Justice Association Conference.  The award recognizes a professional in a field who demonstrates commitment, initiative and advocacy on behalf of the youth and families they serve.

Hein was nominated by Judge Frank Skorupa along with eighteen other individuals, including prosecuting attorneys, defense attorneys, Guardians Ad Litem, probation officers and Health and Human Services workers.

In the nomination letter it was noted that Hein “... is not the traditional advocate in that she does not belong to an advocacy group and, yet, in her position she has shown commitment and initiative and her everyday work is aimed at serving the best interest of the juveniles with whom she comes into contact.”
