Southeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court Talks to Rotary Club about their Program
Members of the Southeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court presented at the March 30th meeting of the Nebraska City Rotary Club. Judge Julie Smith, Program Coordinator Chris Reece, and Probation Supervision Officer Marty Metschke discussed the different aspects of Southeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court, which serves participants in both Auburn and Wilber.
Problem-Solving Courts are an alternate route through the criminal justice system for nonviolent drug-related individuals, utilizing a specialized team process within the existing court structure. The courts are designed to reduce recidivism and substance use among individuals with substance use disorders. The court aims to protect public safety and increase the participant's likelihood of successful rehabilitation by utilizing validated risk and need assessments, early and individualized behavioral health treatment, frequent and random chemical testing, incentives, sanctions, and other rehabilitative and ancillary services.
