Weighted Caseload Reports for Calendar Year 2022 Posted
Weighted Caseload Reports for Nebraska's district, county, and separate juvenile courts have been uploaded to the Judicial Branch Website.
Weighted caseload statistics approximate the number of judges needed to handle the current caseload based upon the calculations of a three-year rolling average of case filing data, case weights (including the time it takes per type of case), and all possible judicial work minutes in a year. However, historically, this did not account for cases heard by judges outside of their home district. The latest release of this report is the first to report a weight on additional work judges completed for a district outside of their own and, conversely, a weight for how much help a district received. Therefore, when weighted caseload statistics are examined in conjunction with other compelling and critical metrics, they provide a vital part of an objective and standardized assessment of judicial needs and the fair allocation of judicial resources across courts in the State of Nebraska.
