Young Visitors Return to Loup City Courtroom
Leap Into Learning Preschool is back to making their annual visits to the courtroom in Loup City to listen to Clerk Magistrate Janelle Mostek talk about the Judicial Branch. Visits were suspended last year due to COVID, but the three, four and 5-year-olds have returned.
Mostek, who has been speaking to the group for over ten years, tries to educate youngsters on the function of rules in society. She also explains the duties of the individuals who work in the courtroom including the judge, the attorneys, the court recorder, and law enforcement. Mostek noted that the most frequent questions she answers are about her robe and why the court has big-screen televisions. Before the visits, she encourages teachers to talk with students about questions they might like to ask.
