Beatrice Probation Office Honors Local Heroes

On November 2, 2017 the District 1 Probation office in Beatrice held a ceremony to commemorate two individuals who both made a big impact in their community.

The probation office named two rooms in their reporting center in honor of Gage County’s first probation officer, Cliff Wolf, Jr., and Jeremy Wach, a volunteer firefighter and member of the Gage County Sheriff’s Office.

The ceremony was led by District 1 Chief Probation Officer Jeremy Behrends and was well attended by family, friends, co-workers and local law enforcement and court officials who all knew and respected both Wolf and Wach.

Cliff Wolf devoted 37 years as a probation officer in Gage County and passed away in 2011.  Former Gage County District Court Judge Paul Korslund remembered Wolf as someone who was loyal and dedicated to the community he served.  Korslund said that Wolf was a tough probation officer who would not tolerate anyone not being truthful.

Jeremy Wach was a volunteer fireman and jail administrator for the Gage County Sheriff’s Office.  He passed away while fighting a fire in Gage County in 2007.  Chief Deputy Doug Klaus with the Gage County Sheriff’s Office had many stories to share about Wach and his service to the community and residents of Gage County.

The ceremony was concluded with remarks from State Probation Administrator Ellen Fabian Brokofsky as well as State Court Administrator Corey Steel.
